Prague Information Service (PIS) will transfer the administration of selected monuments to an external administrator, which will guarantee PIS stable income and also secure the development of services for visitors. The new administrator, the company ABL FM Services, a.s., was selected by PIS in a standard tendering process. The company ABL FM Services will take over the administration of monuments as of 1 August 2009 for a period of one year.

Prague Information Service, as the administrator of this facility, cordially invites all horse lovers and riding enthusiasts to the Ctěnice Chateau grounds, where on 6 June the 6th year of the children’s riding competition on ponies for the City of Prague Cup will take place. A series of attractions have been prepared for visitors including a carriage ride and a sample dog training session.

Prague Information Service, which currently administers the Old Town Hall, the Powder Tower, the Old Town Bridge Tower, the Lesser Town Bridge Tower, the Petřín Observation Tower, Maze and the Tower of the Church of St. Nicholas, wants to find an external administrator for these monuments. The selected administrator must meet the conditions set by PIS, e.g. fixed admission prices, responsibility for the safety of visitors, etc. PIS will continue to influence the use of the monuments exclusively for cultural purposes and tourism, and will oversee the administration of the monuments.

This year for the first time, the Ctěnice Chateau will admit visitors to its gothic underground. On 18 and 19 April, visitors can visit not only the facility’s normally accessible areas, but also basements from the 14th century which used to serve as a milk cellar, pantry and ice room for the chateau kitchen, a salt cellar or a beer cellar.

Prague Information Service invites all schoolchildren to visit the observation tower and maze on Petřín hill during spring break. Visitors will be greeted by wavy mirrors, a view of Prague from the gallery of the observation tower and a permanent Jára Cimrman exhibition. Both structures are disabled accessible.

Prague Information Service invites parents with children to the Old Town Hall on Saturday, 31 January. As part of the “Children, get to know Prague!” series, PIS has organised an outing for children 6 and older to the apostles at the Old Town Hall. Children and their parents will also visit the Town Hall’s historic chambers, the chapel, the Romano-gothic underground and the Town Hall tower.
